If you love tacos and smokey meats then this is the place to be. Sitting on our tiny little bar stools right in front of the kitchen I knew this restaurant was for me. We were presented with the menus but that's not how you should choose dishes in a counter top restaurant. Pause, watch, and then apply. A set of Cheese Burger tacos whizzed by and that raw onion caught my eye. "One set of cheese tacos please"..."Coming right up!". A great pre match starter and a sign of what delights were on their way.
When people say a dog looks like its owner, a restaurant can look like its chef. Tattoos, beards and fire sums up this place and is a reflection of its head chef Neil Rankin. Big ovens, great fires and enormous pieces of meat. This is a meat eaters heaven and vegetarians nightmare.

It was a cold, wet and windy evening as we searched the streets of Soho to find temper. We arrived, our coats were taken and we were escorted downstairs. Instantly the sight of caramelising meat catches your eye and your heart starts racing. Then, your eyes begin to water as the smokey aroma hurls around the restaurant. Sat down, let's get stuck in.
They say goats can jump and this certainly did. It sprung of the smokey pit and soon presented itself in front of us. Our taste buds bounded around and the hours of preparation of these wonderful cut paid off. The essence of smoke was perfectly preserved in the sweet melting textures of the goat. Onto the sides, creeping at the top left of the photo was the Beef Fat Potatoes with Ogleshield. Rich, creamy and tangy this was just not what the Dr ordered. But, it was what I ordered and it was blissful.
Lethargically we chose desert. I was ready for a taxi and my bed at this point. There was no room left and my food coma had never been greater. Christmas eat your heart out. But, there was something not to be missed, we knew we had to. Here it comes and it's a half melted baked cookie. 'Unbelievable Jeff' this desert was incredible. Temper London you did me proud.
Dining tips: Don't over order, Don't plan to go anywhere after dinner as you smell like your food, prepare for a taxi back, sit back and enjoy the atmosphere, dine at the counter. |
