Oxford Cheese Company
I love cheese and I certainly have an obsession with it! This is a photo of the Oxford Cheese Company’s shop in the covered market. I was shocked to see the queue at lunch time about twenty people deep so we came back later in the afternoon and it was still out the door! Spotting a Mont D’or I had no choice but to indulge as it’s one of my favourite cheeses! So creamy and tangy it’s a wonderful sensation on the taste buds.
Butchers
Well hung meat is the best hung meat was the motto of this butchers. Here we have a fantastic array of Turkeys on display, some of which must’ve been on a rigorous eating program as they were huge. Personally I prefer having a Christmas goose as I enjoy the rich flavoursome meat.
The meat you eat has to be prepared somewhere! I’ve always said that in order to eat the meat you should be willing to see how it’s killed and prepared. Here we have a butcher preparing up some Christmas partridges.
It’s shooting season - lots of game was on display in the covered market. It saddens me that a lot of people don’t enjoy game or have never tried it. Students out there - pheasants, pigeon and partridge are all very cheap and they even stock them in Sainsbury’s so get down and investigate. Oxford, thank you!
